Defining KPI – Key Performance Indicators and Metrics
Start with the strategic goals of the organization. These will be tied to the organization’s mission statement and short/mid and long term goals. The business will identify initiatives the help achieve their mission. The metrics you define should plot performance against these goals. The best types of measures are those that reflect true performance and are not lagging metrics – i.e. metrics that simply report what has already happened.
